Tell City, Indiana - Mildred E. DeVillez, 101, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011, at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville. She was born in Perry County on November 27, 1910. Her parents were the late Clarence and Annie Bell (Riley) Lance. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Urban DeVillez; sisters, Gladys Elder and Lillian Yates and her grandson, Chris Van Zilen. She was a 1928 graduate of Union Township High School. Mildred was the owner and operator of Mildred's Dress Shop, formerly in Tell City, opened in 1937 and she operated it for 25 years . She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post #2939. Mildred enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family. Surviving is her daughter, Beverly Van Zilen and her husband, Walter, of Newburgh and a grandson, Chad Van Zilen and his partner Diana Wilderman, also of Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday. Pastor Andy Payton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to help clothe children in need in Perry County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
