Tell City, Indiana - Meredith Rogers, 76, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011, at his home. He was born May 8, 1935 near Murray, Kentucky son of the late Taz Stanton Rogers and Viola (Hackett) Rogers. He was a graduate of Murray State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was united in marriage to the former Rosalie Lawrence on July 2, 1960, in Owensboro, Kentucky. Meredith was a member of Hawesville United Methodist Church. Meredith was a teacher, principal and school administrator in the Tell City- Troy Township School Corporation, and the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon, Indiana. In 1996, he retired from Tell City Schools as a junior high art teacher after 40 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosalie (Lawrence) Rogers; son, Jeffrey L. Rogers and his wife Kassi; daughter, Susan Floyd and her husband Brian, all of Tell City; four grandchildren, Jennifer Simpson and her fiance Jonathan B.Gonzalez, Kimberly Hawkins and her husband Christopher, Sam Rogers and Maddie Rogers; brother, Bill M. Rogers, and his wife Sharon of Benton, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews and his in-laws, the Lawrence family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Hawesville United Methodist Church with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Rev. Michael Canada will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday and from 12:00 PM (noon) until 1:30 PM on Sunday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hawesville United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
