Mary Thelander

February 17, 1924 — March 7, 2017

Tell City, Indiana - Mary A. Thelander, 93, passed away March 7, 2017, at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born in St. Marks on February 17, 1924, daughter of the late William J. and Eleanor Rose (Butterman) Kraus. Also preceding her in death was her husband Robert E. Thelander; sisters, Marcella Schaefer and in infancy, Mary Jane Kraus. Mary was a 1943 graduate of Tell City High School. She had worked at Republic in Evansville during the war, building P-47's. She later retired from General Electric where she had been employed for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mary, in her early nineties, still was able to enjoy spending time in her yard and growing roses. Surviving are her sister, Catherine Bartholomew, Louisville, Kentucky; brothers, Louis Kraus, Tell City and Frank Kraus (Lois), Tell City and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, with a D of I service beginning at 6:30PM on Thursday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Friday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
