Mary Mckeown

Tell City, Indiana - Mary E. (Anson) McKeown, 85, passed away on October 11, 2016 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. She was born in Cannelton, August 30, 1931, daughter of the late E.D. and Eula (Jellison) Anson. Also preceding her in death was her husband and brother. Mary was a 1949 graduate of Cannelton High School. She retired in 1996 from Southern Illinoisan Newspaper after 19 years. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion, Illinois and a 50 year a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mary enjoyed music, bowling and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Karen Kauffman, Daniel Odell (Ruth) and Shirley Taylor; a sister, Ruth Ann Gebhart (Bill); five grandchildren, Aimee Sturgeon Lacey (Michael), Monica Odell Wilkinson (David), Carrie Odell Anderson (Eric), Jason Sturgeon and Joe Taylor and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Simons Cemetery in Tobinsport. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association and Tobinsport Cemetery Association.
