Mary Malone

Tell City, Indiana Gertrude Malone, 90, passed away November 14, 2014 at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born on January 31, 1924 in Leopold, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Bruggenschmidt) Rogier. The youngest of nine children, Gertrude was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Charles, Lawrence, Christie, Ralph, Tom, Herbert and Robert Rogier. Also preceding her in death were her granddaughters, Staci Lea Malone and Kathy Malone. A graduate of Oil Township High School, she was united in marriage on February 25, 1946 to Alvin Malone, who survives her. She was employed during World War II at Briggs, in Evansville, as a riveter on fighter planes. Gertrude was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, quilting and being with her family. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alvin Malone; daughters, Mary Jane Malone, Richmond, Dorothy Steen (Derek), Tell City and Deann Malone, Evansville; sons, Joe Malone (Dorothy), Tell City, Jerry Malone (Suellen), Tell City, John Malone (Charlotte), Tell City, Pat Malone (Darlene), Cannelton, Paul Malone (Cindy), Tell City, and Bob Malone (Cindy), Tell City; 18 grandchildren, Melissa Hartzell, Heather Malone, Kevin Malone, Amy Quick, Sarah Brady, Kate, Meghan and Lauren Malone, Denise Peter, Mitzi Morris, Aaron Malone, Audrey Mehling, Don, Caitlin and Mary Steen, Jarrod Malone and Jackie and Dora Malone and 23 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 17, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday and from 8:00 until 9:30 AM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church, Perry County Community Foundation or Alzheimer's Association.
