Mary Arnold

March 13, 1917 — October 6, 2015

Tell City, Indiana - Mary Evelyn Shearn Arnold of Owensboro, Kentucky and formerly of Hancock County, Kentucky and Perry County, Indiana, went home to the Lord on October 6, 2015. She was born in Hawesville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Nathanial and Magdalene White. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 34 years, Leonard Paul "Spot" Shearn and her second husband, John Arnold; daughters, Beverly Ann Shearn, in infancy and Shirley Jean Shearn; granddaughter, Leisha Shearn; brothers, Harvey, Tobin, Jim and Floyd White and sisters, Betty Nugent, Ada McFall, Blanch Murphy and Anna Belle McLain. She is the last to survive her four sisters and four brothers. Mary was a Catholic by faith and raised her children in the Catholic Church. She, the second youngest of 9 children, lost her mother at the age of 2 years. She became a self-made woman. Mary took great pride in her home, raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren. She loved cooking, gardening, flowers, quilting, embroidering pillow cases for birthdays and Christmas gifts and most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her only son, David Shearn, Hawesville, Kentucky; daughters, Pat Zellers (Art), Tell City, Indiana and Marcia Shearn, Owensboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Rick "Sam" Wood (Cindy), Robin Wood Bonham, Tina Wood Hornung (Tom), Cindy Dewitt Jackson (Stan), Carolyn Dewitt Lowe (Casey), Shawn Sturgeon, Shannan Sturgeon (Brandi) , Heath Zellers, Andy Zellers (Jessica), John Zellers (Sharla), Joey Zellers, (Natalie), Faith Shearn Boyd +(George), Brad Shearn (Melissa), several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
