Marvin Howell

Tell City, Indiana Marvin E. Howell, 88, passed away on April 4, 2021. He was born in Gatchel on November 16, 1932, to Karl O. and Rhoda P. (Brown) Howell. Marvin was a 1950 graduate of Tell City High School and veteran of the United States Army, serving domestically during the Korean Conflict. Marvin was fortunate enough to go on the EVV8 Honor Flight with his daughter, Mary, as his guardian, in May 2018. He and his brother, Curt, were co-owners of Howell's Garage in Gatchel for several years until Curt's passing in 1993. Marvin continued to operate the business with his nephews until his retirement in 2012. Marvin was a member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ and American Legion Post #213. He was a past member of Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association, Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Dept.; where he had served as assistant chief and was a 50+ year member, Hoosier Handguns and Perry County Computer Club. Survivors include his children, Wayne Howell (Angie M.), Tell City, Mike Howell (Angie G.), Gatchel and Mary Miller (Darren), Newburgh; sister- in- law, Muriel Howell, Gatchel; grandchildren, Jessica Howell, Jamie Roark (Nathan Lawalin), Dana Hubert (Lee), Jarred and Jordyn Miller and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Alberta (Dauby) Howell in 2017 and brother, Curt Howell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-7:00 PM and Friday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. The family asks that if you visit the funeral home or cemetery that you continue to observe wearing a mask. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery.
