Cannelton, Indiana - Lindsey Reed, 92, died Monday, October 18, 2004, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. He was born in Perry County, Indiana, on August 27, 1912. His parents were the late Orville and Josephine (Kellems) Reed. Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Ireada (Hunter) Reed, sisters, Leona Marshall and Goldie Sims and brothers, Edward, Bernard, Sol, Michael, James and Roy Reed. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Lindsey was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton. He retired as a salesman at Fischer Mobile Homes in Tell City. He had also worked at Conner Realty and Western Auto in Tell City and at Clark Security in Rockport. For several years he was a route salesman for Grand Union Company, where he had received recognition for being the top salesman in the United States. Surviving: Wife - Rachel (Frizzell) Gilbert, Cannelton, IN Daughter - Linda Howard, Cannelton, IN Son - David Gilbert, Cannelton, IN Sister - Gladys Cassidy, Indianapolis, IN Granddaughters - Ashley and Amber Gilbert Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with burial in Dale Cemetery in Dale, Indiana, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, OSB, will officiate.
