Mark McMahon III, 81, passed away after a long illness on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Willowdale Nursing Home in Dale, Ind. He was born on August 21,1935, in Columbus, Neb., to the late Mark T. McMahon Jr. and Alva E. McMahon. Mark was retired from the Tell City Chair Company where he was a Purchasing Manager for over 15 years. Prior to that, he was employed by Arnold Industries in Starkville, Miss., as Purchasing Manager and at Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises in Barberton, Ohio, as Transportation Manager. Mark was married to Katherine "Kay" (Ongley) McMahon on June 30, 1956, for 56 years until her death on November 28, 2012. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, Ind. He was also a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a recipient of the Palladian (60-year) legion award. Mark was a loving father to two sons and one daughter, as well as his granddaughter and great grandchildren. He enjoyed wood working, trapshooting, hunting, fishing and a good game of cribbage. Surviving him are his children, Mark T. (Linda) McMahon of Akron, Ohio, Timothy C. (Stilla) McMahon of Louisville, Ky., and Lori L. (Bryan) Thompson of Tell City; his sister, Ann McMahon King of Burton, S.C.; one grandchild, Megan L. Dunn and two great-grandchildren, Mia Lynne May and Treyton Ray Cronin, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his younger brother Charles Irving McMahon of Greenville, S.C. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, April 1, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tell City. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:30 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
