Mark L. Smith, 63, passed away on December 13, 2023 at his home.

He was born on July 13, 1960 to Earl and Anna “Sis” (Miller) Smith, who preceded him in death.

Mark was a 1978 graduate of Cannelton High School. He had worked at Schwab Safe and most recently, Meggitt.

A sports fan, Mark enjoyed watching the 49ers and horse races. He loved to play the guitar; he would also make guitars and give them as gifts to loved ones. He enjoyed fishing, reading and cracking jokes. Mark’s favorite past time was to pester people, especially his nieces and nephews, who he adored.

Mark was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by his brother, Wayne Smith (Sharon), Easley, SC; sister, Shelley Lawalin (Steve), Cannelton; his dear friend, Kimberly Hall, Tell City; nieces, Jodi Hodes (Garrett), Lily Spencer (Stephen), Stephanie Edwards (Jeremy) and Stacy Freiberger (Adam); great nieces and nephews, Maxwell and Clara Hodes, Violet Spencer, Kassidy Strahl, Wyatt and Ethan Edwards, Kylie and Khloe Mathes, Josie and Wade Freiberger and his cat, Agnes or as Mark would call her “Stinky”.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 16,2023 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Michael Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Council on Aging or River’s Edge Animal Shelter.
