Marjorie Drake

Marjorie Ruth Drake, 80, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born in Perry County on February 17, 1930. Her parents were the late Evan and Leslie (Schraner) Carter. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Elwood Carter, grandchildren, Lydia Jones, Todd Etienne and Max Cassidy. Marjorie married Freddie Lee Drake on July 2, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1995. She worked in the mounting department at General Electric from 1948 until 1962. She then cooked at Hoosier Heights School from 1968 until 1991 when she retired. Marjorie was a member of Gatchel Home Economics Club and Lilly Dale Church of Christ. She was well-known for her stunning flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed reading, cooking for her family and was known for her delicious homemade bread. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are her daughters, Diana Jones and her husband, David, Cannelton; Ginger Krieg, Tell City; Sharon Drake, Cannelton; Lana Etienne and her husband, Doyle, Magnet; Rebecca Cassidy and her husband, Jack, Depauw; her son, Larry and his wife, Christy, Tell City; a brother, Frederick ""Bud"" Carter, Cannelton; grandchildren, Erica Underhill, Jessica Schulthise, Timothy, Leesa, and Katie Jones, Adam and Jill Krieg, Alicia and Sarah Drake, Melissa and Nicholas Dauby, Jeremy, Brad, and Duane Etienne, Maggie, Carly and Ellie Cassidy and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend, Eddie Champion and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 2, 2010, at Lilly Dale Church of Christ, in Gatchel, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery.
