Tell City, Indiana Margaret Knoop, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born September 7, 1930 in Boonville, daughter of the late Frank and Lana (Jones) Houghland. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Diana Ravens and brothers, Eddie Joe in infancy, and Tom and Charlie Houghland. Margaret married Emil Knoop on March 23, 1957, in Shawneetown, Illinois. She retired in 1986 from Tell City Chair. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Boonville VFW Auxiliary Post # 3418. Margaret loved visiting with people, listening to bluegrass and country music and quilting. She was proud to be called ""The Donut Lady"", a title she inherited when she handed out doughnut samples when she worked at Buehlers. Margaret took pride in making her famous slaw for friends and family gatherings. She never met a stranger and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters; Doris Ann Schulz (Melvin), Evansville, and Sharon Lee Carter (Bary), Tell City; son, Ben Boyer (Suzi), Evansville; grandchildren, Tim Schulz (Kristi), Diane Alvey (Kevin), Chris Carter (Rhonda), Keith Schulz (Jennifer), Dan Carter (Aislin), Curt Schulz and Emily Rettig (Scott) and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 620 Taylor Street, Cannelton, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Rev. Mike Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
