Marcie Sommer

Marcella L. “Marcie” Sommer, 59, passed away on March 4, 2024 at Linda White Hospice in Evansville, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 21, 1964, daughter of Blead Edward and Sylvia “June” (Elverd) Applegate.

Marcie had worked at Commercial Filters until her health no longer allowed her to do so.  She enjoyed all sorts of crafts and liked following craft shows online. Nothing meant more to Marcie than visits from her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Barbie Lindsey, Terre Haute, Chris Sommer and Kristy Gebhard, both of Tell City; brother, Mike Applegate, Cannelton; sisters, Stephanie Thompson (Mark), Cannelton and Kelly Claxton, Evanston; grandchildren, Katie, Drake, Abigail, Connor and August, Patience and Creed and Nolan and Nathan.

Marcie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Urban Sommer, in 2014; a brother, Mark Applegate; sisters, Shannon Harding and Donna Meredith and a granddaughter, Lydia.

There will be no services as requested by Marcie. Huber Funeral Home is assisting her family with arrangements. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Marcie’s husband, Urban Sommer and her granddaughter, Lydia Haycraft.
