Tell City, Indiana - Marcella Yaggi, 86, danced her way into heaven on August 3, 2012, from Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 15, 1926, in Cannelton. Her parents were the late Kelly and Lorene (Doughty) Sweeney. Marcella was united in marriage on July 15, 1955, to the love of her life, Bill Yaggi. Bill preceded her in death in 1986. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Bob Sweeney and a great granddaughter, Devon Gratzer. In 1974, she and Bill owned and operated Yaggi's Tavern, formerly located on First Street in Cannelton and Yaggi's Catering, along with their, daughter, Debbie. Marcella and Debbie continued catering until 1994. She also worked at Perry County Memorial Hospital where she retired. She enjoyed going to casinos, bowling and playing cards, especially euchre and poker. Marcella and Debbie looked forward to road trips and venturing down any paths that the trip may lead. She had fond memories just relaxing with friends at Lazy River and spending time with family, especially her great granddaughter, Lexi. Marcella was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary #2939 and WIBC Womens Indiana Bowling League. Surviving are daughters, Debbie Kleeman (Mark Cody), Tell City, Susan Yaggi (Tom Jaroll), Michigan City, Indiana; sons, Larry Goffinet (Sharla), Cannelton, Gary Nelson, Rieskin, Florida and Robert Nelson (Nina), Ordin, Illinois; sisters, Ida Mae Hafele, Cannelton, Kay Rexroat (Ron), Indianapolis, and Jo Long, Texas; brother, Charles "Kelly" Sweeney (Donna), Tell City; sister-in-law, Betsy Sweeney, Cannelton; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, for whom she loved and her pets, Miller and Jake. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Ana and the wonderful staff at Perry County Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care shown to their mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 6, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Michael Cemetery in Cannelton. Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 11:00 AM until 12:30 on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City. There will be a 6:30 PM memorial service conducted by the VFW Auxiliary. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Memorial Hospital or Perry County Humane Society.
