Lula Stein

Lula Mae Wittman Stein, 86, passed away March 20, 2018 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Perry County, Indiana on March 12, 1932 to the late Joseph B. and Jessie D. (Burns) Mathena. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Wilbert Wittman and second husband, Arthur Stein; step-son, Donald E. Stein; sisters, Joann Edwards and Frances Nugent. Lula Mae was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its Women's Guild, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 and Women of the Moose Chapter 2052. She enjoyed cooking and had catered weddings with her husband, Art. She also enjoyed her dog, Jessie. Surviving are her children, Gary W. Wittman (Rita), Lamar and John L. Wittman (Pam), Tell City; step-daughter, Patricia Howerton (James "Butch"), English; a brother, Chester "Chet" Mathena (Linda), Troy; grandchildren, Stephen Wittman, Jeffery Wittman, David McFarling (Bernadette), Michelle Baker (Alan), Kim Hanson (Bo) and Jackie Price (Larry); great-grandchildren, Angel Jones, Riley and Alena McFarling. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CST Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Gadbaw will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Lamar. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-9:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Cemetery Fund or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
