Mary Lucille Cassidy, age 94, passed away on August 8, 2018, in Fort Myers, Florida, where she had lived since 2010. She was a longtime resident of Perry County. The daughter of Theodore Boerste and Lydia Winter Boerste, Mrs. Cassidy grew up in St. Marks, graduated from Tell City High School, and attended nursing school in Evansville before marrying Edwin Cassidy of Bristow. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and active in the D of I and the Oblates of St. Benedict. Her husband, the late Mr. Edwin Cassidy, was a business education teacher at Tell City High School for more than twenty years before his death in 1977. Mrs. Cassidy is survived by six children: Elaine Keating of Burke, Virginia; Karen Cassidy of Boulder, Colorado; Gary Cassidy of Fort Worth, Texas; Dr. Stephen Cassidy of Fort Collins, Colorado; Dr. Mary Blue of Fort Myers, Florida; and Dianne Scent of Maryville, Tennessee, as well as a sister, Dorothy LaGrange (Ovalee) of St. Marks. She was the grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cassidy was preceded in death by husband Edwin; granddaughter, Breanne Cassidy; and brothers, Alvin, Albert, Frank, and Ralph Boerste. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
