Tell City, Indiana - Lucile (Holman) Layell Vinson, 86, passed away peacefully, with family members by her side, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Cambridge Place in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Tell City, Indiana on August 20, 1925, daughter of the late Claude B. and ""Hettie"" Holman. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Emily Holman, Evelyn Marchand and Marjorie Lamar Knable, grandson, Todd Vinson, great grandson Maddix Cole and her husband, Msgt Alfard M. Vinson. Lucile was an organist for St. Luke Catholic Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky, more recently for Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington and formerly at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, Indiana. She also played professionally in many dance bands in the Louisville and Tell City areas while her family was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. A 1943 graduate of Tell City High School, Lucile was a member of Oblates of St. Benedict. Lucile had worked as a dietary manager, certified nursing assistant, business office manager,and finally as an owner of long term care facilities throughout the state of Kentucky for over 50 years. Surviving are her children, John Vinson (Cathy), Louisville, Kentucky, Steven Vinson (Margarete) Lexington, Kentucky, Leeny Hardesty, Lexington, Kentucky, Tina Stoen (Skip), Evansville, Indiana, Martin Vinson (Carol), Tell City, Indiana, LuAnn Davis (Jarrod), Nicholasville, Kentucky and Charles ""Lucky"" Layell, Bristol, Tennessee; twenty grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, along with other family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 824 Jefferson Street, Tell City, Indiana, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM EST on Tuesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky and from 2:00 until 8:00 PM CST on Wednesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM CST on Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, Pax Christi Catholic Church or St. Paul Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Cambridge Place for the care and attention provided to their mother.
