Linus F. Linne, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born November 23, 1929 in Troy, son of the late Robert and Clara (Zoll) Linne. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Jean Arnold and brothers, Robert, Ralph, Maurice "Moxie", Bernard "Pudder", and Urban "Stubby" Linne. Linus was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School, played basketball for Troy High School, and was voted the most valuable player in 1948. In the 1950's and 1960's he played baseball for Troy Merchants and later played softball for several teams. Linus coached St. Michael basketball team in 1959. Linus was united in marriage April 18, 1953 in Troy to Jeannette June Bolin, who survives. He worked for BF Shaw Company and Blount Company retiring in 1989 and was a former Perry County Auditor. Linus was a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, enjoyed watching sports, horse racing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1172, Harry G. Myers American Legion Post #142, VFW Post #2939 and Disabled American Veterans. Linus is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Linne; sons, Mike Linne (Vickie), Dillsboro, Indiana, and Bob Linne (Cheryl), Tell City, Indiana; daughters, Kay Linne, and Jenny Linne, both of Tell City, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, Theresa Linne, Tamara Diawara, Brandon Linne, Amy Campbell, Amber Rogier, Amanda Young, Myra Ridener, Lisa Feix and Austin Linne; step-grandson, Karl Young; 13 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion and VFW. Rev. Sengole G. and Rev. Barnabas Gillespie O.S.B. will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, where there will be a Knights of Columbus memorial service at 6:30 PM, and from 8:30 until 9:30AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church or Gentiva Hospice.
