Tell City, Indiana Leroy M. Nugent, 85, passed away on August 18, 2022 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. He was born on January 6, 1937 in Hancock County, Kentucky to Vernon and Edna (Rearden) Nugent. Leroy was a 1955 graduate of Beechmont High School in Hancock County and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage on November 25, 1961 to Janice Winchell, who survives. Leroy had worked at Tell City Chair Company and retired in 1999 from Southern Indiana Power, where he was a meter technician. A 50-year member of Deer Creek Baptist Church, Leroy served as a church trustee for several years. He enjoyed playing euchre, camping, traveling, hiking, classic cars and building model cars. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Janice Nugent, Tell City; children, Robin Ball (Danny), Kevin Nugent (Suzy) and Tonya George (Greg), all of Tell City; four grandchildren, Derek Ball, Brittany Beier, Cody Nugent and Adam George; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Violet Nichols and Doris Pritchard, Hawesville, KY, a brother, Edward Nugent, Grayson, KY and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Lillian Jacobs, Lavetta Jackson and a brother, Elvin Nugent. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Wallace Gooch will officiate. Burial will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice or Deer Creek Cemetery.
