Leonard Naviaux

Tell City, Indiana Leonard Naviaux, 93, of Tell City passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Golden Living Center Lincoln Hills in Tell City. Leonard was born near Ranger, Indiana on June 21, 1918, son of the late Edward Naviaux and Emma Hubert Naviaux. He was also preceded in death in 2007 by his wife, Edith Etienne Naviaux, and a sister, Irene Mosby. Leonard served in the United States Navy during WW II. He was employed at Fischer Chair Company for twenty years, then worked at Tell City Chair Company for fourteen years. He retired in 1982. Leonard was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Leonard enjoyed studying history and keeping abreast of world events. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Leonard is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Schaefer (Jerry), Tell City, Indiana, Theresa Wallpe ( Gary), Canton, Georgia, one son, Gene Naviaux (Laura), Owensboro, Kentucky, a step-daughter, Glenda Steinsberger (George), Columbus, Nebraska, two sisters, Olivia Hagedorn, Ferdinand, Indiana, Alma Cook, Indianapolis, Indiana, nine grandchildren, Sara Augustyniak, Laura Adams, Jennifer Lewis, Eric Wallpe, Julie Lee, Ryan and Kyle Naviaux, Nick Steinsberger and Gretchen Ek. Leonard has eleven great grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2011 at St. Mark Catholic Church, rural Tell City with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial is in St. Augustine Cemetery, Leopold, Indiana where a military graveside service will be conducted. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church.
