Lelah Ubelhor

Tell City, Indiana Lelah "Fern" Ubelhor, 93, passed away at Wellington Parc in Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday, January 23, 2021. She was born in Bristow, Indiana on March 18, 1927 to Claudius and Flavia (Sturgeon) Albin. Fern was a 1945 graduate of Bristow High School and worked for General Electric for 47 years before her retirement in 1987. She attended St. John United Church of Christ in Cannelton and was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and its ladies auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and lifetime member of D.A.V. Auxiliary. Fern was also a member of Tell City Historical Society and formerly of Historic Cannelton Inc. A proud Bristow native, Fern served as vice president and secretary for the Bristow School Alumni and was always eager to help with the school's reunions. Fern worked with a group of people to start the "Bristow Room", helping write "The Bristow Book" selling over 500 copies. Fern loved to travel overseas as well as having visited most all of the 50 states. Surviving are her sisters, Pat Pund, Tell City and Bonnie Miller and her companion, Perry Clem, who both cared for her, Hawesville, KY along with several nieces and nephews. Fern is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Ubelhor in 2006; her parents and siblings, Wayne and Lennie Albin, Wanda Kowal, Opal Faye Oxley and Tina Smith. Funeral services will be private at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pastor Al Madden will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
