Larry Joe Ferguson, 74, passed away on December 30, 2023 at Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville, surrounded by his family.


He was born on August 27, 1949 to Robert Joe and Kathleen Joyce (Williams) Ferguson.


Larry was a 1967 graduate of Chrisney High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was united in marriage on September 30, 1972 to Geneva A. Pierrard, who survives.


Larry retired in 2009 from coal mining and was a lifelong farmer.


Larry enjoyed watching farming videos and monitoring the weather on his iPad. But he loved the simple things in life, such as spending time with his family, having a home cooked meal, dining at a favorite restaurant and taking drives, enjoying Indiana farm scenery. He was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church and American Legion Post #213.


Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Geneva Ferguson, Lamar; daughters, Melanie Miller (Jeff), Rockport, Heather Ferguson, Chicago, IL, Tiffany Dickey (Gary), Lamar and Courtney Hoffman (Scott), Rockport; siblings, Danny Ferguson (Lynn), Randy Ferguson (Geri), all of Evanston and Diane Ferguson, Lamar; grandchildren, Mercedes, Ethan and Harper Miller, Ella Dickey and Alice Hoffman and great grandchildren, Lochlin and Abraxas.


Larry is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Scott Miller; nephews, Bobby Joe Ferguson and Bryan Scott Ferguson, and his beloved grandmother, Olive (Ol-La) Ferguson.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. Rev. Ron Kreilein will officiate. Burial with military rights will follow in the church cemetery.


Visitation will be held on Monday, January 1, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation or the American Stroke Association.
