Kevin James

Leopold, Indiana Kevin L. James, 67, passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born in Leopold, Indiana on August 24, 1955 to Willard and Myrtle (Wheatley) James. Kevin was a 1973 graduate of Perry Central High School. He was united in marriage at St. Augustine Catholic Church on November 27, 1981 to Susie Lemaire. Kevin started his career as an equipment operator in the coal mines. He then worked as a carpenter for more than 20 years, building many homes and buildings in Perry County and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed woodworking and showcasing his work at craft shows. He was known for building swings, wood bore traps, bird feeders and the train that holds books for trading and sharing at the Tell City Depot. Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and lovingly tormenting his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Susie James; children, Adam James (LeAnna) and Curt James (Lauren); grandchildren, Maddox, Deaken and Ryker James, Harrison Huckabee and William James; siblings, Joe Wayne James (Darlene), Ronnie James, Kenny James (Donna), Randy James (Rhonda), Earlene "Eny" Preher (Bobbie), Paul James (Anne), and Eletta Bryant (Kyle). Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Larry James, Karen Ann Etienne, Cheryl Lynn Redden and Tina Purcell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Paul Alvey will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Commodore Construction Education Fund or Habitat for Humanity.
