Rome, Indiana Kenneth E. "Kenny" Wright, Sr. 76, passed away March 3, 2017, at his home on Deer Creek. He was born December 16, 1940 in Taswell, Indiana, to the late Everett and Leona (VanHoosier) Wright. Kenny was a 1958 graduate of Cannelton High School. Kenny was united in marriage on December 28, 1968, to the former Betty McCallister who survives him. A Vietnam veteran, Kenny was a Sergeant in the United States Army earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Badge. He had worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2002. A talented musician, Kenny attended Lexington Baptist College for Ministry. He was a member of D.A.V., Rome Masonic Lodge #133, 196th Light Infantry Brigade Association, where he served as treasurer. He was an avid gunman, belonging to the gun club S.A.S.S. and Local Muzzleloader Enthusiast Group. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gold panning and watching NASCAR. A self-proclaimed pioneer man, Kenny enjoyed his home on the creek, where he found rest at the end of the day, simply by absorbing the gift of nature and his surroundings that God provided him. Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Betty Wright, Rome; his children, Sean Wright (Theresa), Millstone, Carlene Suiter, St. Meinrad, Kenneth Wright, Jr., Winslow, and Michael Wright (Tina), Ripley, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Shelby Aldridge (Brandon), Aly Barton (Ethan), Spencer Wright, Nicholas Suiter, Timothy Suiter (Renee), Christian and Carey Wright, Misty Gray and Adam Wright; seven great grandchildren, Autumn Aldridge and Hayden Suiter, Jordan and Tori Pauw, Elizabeth and Alex Gray and Jarin Wright. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Sam Padgett will officiate. Burial will follow in Millstone Cemetery, with military rights. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00-7:00 PM with a Masonic memorial service at 6:30 PM and Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Millstone Cemetery and Foster's Ridge Cemetery.
