Gatchel, Indiana - Justin R. "Butch" Rennie, 66, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Leopold on August 16, 1947. His parents were the late Justus S. and Aileen (Etienne) Rennie. He married Betty Sue Sutcliffe on March 4, 1972, in Tell City. A 1966 graduate of Perry Central High School, Butch was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, National Cur & Feist Association, Warrick County Horse & Mule Club and president of Southern Indiana Squirrel Hunters Association. He worked with Perry County Civil Defense, was a reserve deputy and volunteer fireman where he was past fire chief of Central Perry Volunteer Fire Department. He retired in 2007 where he was a jailer for the Perry County Sheriff's Department where he had been jail commander. He had also worked at Perry County Highway Department and was a licensed auctioneer where he was active with Perry County 4-H Livestock Auctions and Perry Central Boy Scouts. Formerly, he had owned Gatchel Market and was a farmer. Butch was known by many for taking his covered wagon and mules for rides in Perry, Spencer and Warrick counties and attending Plow Days with his equipment. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially liked going hunting with his squirrel dogs and coon dogs along with his grandsons. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Rennie; daughters, Beth McClane (Jerod), Huntingburg, Nancy Rennie, Tell City and Donna Rennie (Mark Esarey), Bristow; son, Charles Rennie (Ann), Tell City; sisters, Kathryn Fisher (Gene), Jefferson City, Missouri, Mary Sparrow, Charlestown Indiana and Rita Mahoney (Mike), Tell City; brother, Jim Rennie (Bev), Tell City; grandchildren, Sam Rennie, Dalton Rennie, Justina McClane and Andy R. Esarey; step grandchildren, Tiffany Peter (Tim) and Thomas Lane and a step great granddaughter, Nakiya Lane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
