Judy Edwards

June 23, 1951 — February 7, 2022

Leopold, Indiana Judy M. Edwards, 70, passed away on February 7, 2022. She was born in Tell City on June 23, 1951 to Ernest J. and Myrtle P. (LeClere) Guillaume. On February 15, 1969, Judy was united in marriage to Robert L. Edwards at St. Augustine Catholic Church where she was a eucharist minister, lector and had served on the Parish Council. Judy will fondly be remembered as one of the friendly faces at Guillaume's Store, the general store that she grew up in and had been working at since she was a young girl. For 62 years she devoted her life to serving her community. Judy worked as a hairdresser, since the age of 18, at her house in Leopold and later in a room in the back of the store. Last year, Judy received a gift called "Storyworth" where she was sent one question per week to answer, then a book would be compiled of her answers as short stories. She finished her last question recently. One of the questions was "How did you get your first job?" She answered, "this is funny. My mom and dad bought an old country store when I was eight years old. It had a home attached to it so I went to work the very first day we moved in. We stayed open seven days a week, so that's all I knew!!! And guess what, I am still there working seven days a week, 62 years later. I still love it. I know and love so many people in our little town. You know everyone, it's like we are all family!" Judy served on the Leopold Park Association and was teasingly named "Director of Parking" for her favorite event of the year, the Leopold Christmas Parade because it gathered friends and family together to enjoy the holidays. Judy was a vital part of the Leopold community. She never met a stranger, was always willing to help and would do anything for anyone in need and always there to give one of her famous hugs. Judy loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandson, Gregory. She was an avid reader, storyteller and enjoyed listening to her brother, John "Jed" play guitar and sing. Surviving are her children, Tim Edwards (Dena), Leopold, Brad Edwards, Leopold, Michael Edwards (Jeff Sullivan), Lexington and Tammy Hess (Andy), Leopold; grandchildren, Nick and Hannah Edwards and Morgan Kemp (Claudia Williams); great grandson, Gregory Kemp; a sister, Bev Guillaume (Eddie), Oriole and brother, John "Jed" Guillaume (Pam), Tell City and mother-in-law, Goldie Edwards, Leopold. Preceding Judy in death were her parents; husband, Robert; grandson, Isaak Kemp , son-in-law, Greg Kemp and father-in-law, Maurice Edwards. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00-7:00 PM and Thursday 8:30-10:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leopold Park Association, Claudia Williams Fund in c/o German American Bank or St. Augustine Catholic Church.
