Mount Pleasant, Indiana Joyce Ann (Connor) Williams, 86, went to heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, August 11, 2022 at Owensboro Regional Health Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born to Sewell, Sr. and Clara (Schraner) Connor on December 7, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Tell City High School in 1954 and continued her education at Deaconess School of Nursing in Evansville. Shortly after graduating, she was united in marriage to Nolan Williams on September 21, 1957 at the Tell City Church of Christ. She began her career at Deaconess Hospital and over the next forty-one years she worked several nursing positions that included the Tell City Clinic, Perry Central School's first nurse, supervisor at Perry County Hospital (where she was EMT and had taught CPR classes) and Branchville Correctional Facility where she retired in 1998. In her retirement, she became a Mary Kay consultant. As a child, Joyce was a 10 year 4-Her and involved in the Rural Youth Club. She later became a leader of the Mt. Pleasant 4-H Club with her husband, Nolan and continued to lead the club for 52 years, with the two of them contributing over a century of cumulative 4-H service. She was involved in many other community activities to include 4-H Council, Child Abuse Prevention Committee, Modern Woodmen, and a Sunday school teacher at Lilly Dale Church of Christ. For her community involvement, she was recognized as Woman of the Year by the Tell City Kiwanis Club in 1980. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, traveling, working with youth, and feeding her squirrels and birds. Joyce was known for her spunky and caring personality with an unshakable strength that carried her through life, even when faced with many physical challenges. She had an independent spirit with a huge loving heart for her family and faith. Surviving are her children: Phyllis (Joe) Tingley, Brian (Jeannie) Williams, Pam (J.P.) Hilgenhold. Five grandsons: Matt Williams, Pat (Amber) Williams, Levi, Luke and Lane (Emili) Hilgenhold. Four great-grandchildren: Emma, Macy, Leah, Owen Williams and another Williams great-grandchild due in February. Two surviving siblings: Sewell Jr (Brenda) Connor and Wanda Faulkenburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of sixty-three years, James Nolan Williams, by exactly two years. A granddaughter in-law, Shana Williams, also preceded her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Lilly Dale Church of Christ. Bro. Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in Horton Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and Monday from 9:00-10:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Church of Christ or Perry County 4-H Council.
