Tell City, Indiana Joyce L. James, 79, passed away January 16, 2018 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Thrall, Texas April 2, 1938, daughter of the late Dee and Minerva Bell (Smith) Sanders. Also preceding her in death were twin daughters, Joni Faye and Jani Kaye; sisters, Opal Cronin, Artie Smith and Betty Jean Ewald, brothers, Howard, Harvey and Haywood Sanders. A 1956 graduate of Oil Township High School, Joyce was united in marriage to Cletus W. James at St. Augustine Catholic Church on May 12, 1956. Joyce retired as a receptionist at Old National Bank, formerly Citizens National Bank, where she worked for over twenty two years, in 2001. Her friendly personality, enjoyed by many, will be missed. She never met a stranger and always welcomed conversation with friends or sharing a joke with others. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Joyce enjoyed reading, cooking, going to yard sales and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Cletus W. James; daughters, Gayle Howell (Mike), Gatchel, Missy Noble, Tell City; sons, Dennis James (Sandra), Tell City and Doug James (Nancy), Tell City, sisters, Edith Scott, Tell City and Janell Pfeifer (Bob), Leopold; eight grandchildren, Clint Trinkel, Jamie Roark (Chris), Dana Hubert (Lee), Darrin James (Megan), Sarah Jeffords (Logan), Lindsey Noble, Emily Shrubb (Kyle) and Nathan Noble; eleven great grandchildren and brother-in-law, Norman James (Charlotte), Oriole and a niece, Barb Roberts (Trub), with whom she was raised, lives in Hawesville, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church.
