Cannelton, Indiana - Joseph Victor "Vic" Carrico, age 91, of Owensboro, Kentucky and formerly of Cannelton, passed away on June 7, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1932, in Springfield, Kentucky. Vic was a dedicated, resilient, and courageous individual who always put his family first. He served his country on the front lines during the Korean War. Vic was a proud life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Saints Joseph & Paul Catholic Churches in Owensboro, Kentucky. He retired from the State of Indiana, where he was on the sign crew and was a toll bridge worker at the Bob Cummings Lincoln Trail Bridge. He had also worked at Cannelton Locks & Dam. There was no remodeling job that Vic wouldn't tackle as he could build or fix anything and never walked away from a challenge, especially if it involved mechanic or carpentry work. Vic shared his many construction talents with family and friends. Vic enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vic's family was especially appreciative of the care he received from Hospice of Western Kentucky. Vic is survived by his children, Rick (Donna) Carrico, Jim (Charlotte) Carrico and Connie (Brad) Miller; sister, Ann Harris; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Tekoppel, Emily Carrico (Lauren Conway), Kaitlyn (Brendan) Kassel, Corey (Cheryl) Carrico, Jacob Carrico, Chris Miller, Drew Miller, and Matt Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucy (Spalding) Carrico and his siblings, John, Wilber, Bonnie, Dorothy, Sue and Lou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:00 am CDT at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City where there will be military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 18th and on Monday, June 19th from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. We encourage friends and family to leave memories and upload photos to Vic's memorial page, as we celebrate his life and the impact, he had on those who knew and loved him.
