John Swaney

Tell City, Indiana - John D. Swaney, 39, passed away peacefully, on March 28, 2012, surrounded by his family, at his home. He was born in Tell City on October 13, 1972, son of Glenn and Ethel Marie (King) Swaney who survive him. John was a 1991 graduate of Tell City High School and received his master's degree in social work from the University of Southern Indiana. A gifted musician and song writer, John released three c.d.'s and enjoyed all kinds of music. He and his family took several road trips including a memorable Route 66 trip to California and back. He also enjoyed hiking and fishing. Surviving him are his wife, Jolene and their children, Jessup and Josie; parents, Glenn and Marie Swaney, Lewisport, Kentucky; brother, Jeremy Swaney and his grandmother, Hazel Sanders. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, John Swaney, Andrew and Jane (Sandage) King and Harvey Sanders. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 30, 2012, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
