John Scheidegger

Tell City, Indiana John C. ""Beeb"" Scheidegger, 85, surrounded by caring daughters, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Father Friday March 5, 2004 at Brentwood Nursing Center in Evansville, Indiana. John was born October 28, 1918 in Cannelton, Indiana the son of the late Carl Scheidegger and Mary Catherine (Buckel) Scheidegger. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Gertrude Gerber and three brothers, Edward ""Buddy"", William ""Booby"", and Charles ""Chotty"" Scheidegger. After attending Cannelton High School he was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran and was a member of Harry G. Myers American Legion Post # 142 in Cannelton. He married the former Alvera Hess November 27, 1941 in Tell City, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1993. ""Beeb"" retired from Alcoa's Warrick Operations and had formerly worked at the Indiana Cotton Mill in Cannelton and the Tell City News. Among his many hobbies, he was an avid gardener and was a representative for Stark Brothers Nursery Products. A self-educated lover of the finer arts and music, he was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City where he served as an usher for many years. He was a past president of the Tell City Optimist Club and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council # 1172 in Tell City. Survived by: Two daughters and their husbands: Diane Murray & Dr. Thomas Murray, Princeton, Indiana Donna Scheidegger & Phil Michael, Savannah, Georgia Three grandchildren: Patrick & Kelly Murray, and Lauren Michael Funeral services will be 10:00 AM EST Monday march 8, 2004 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery at Tell City with military graveside rites by American legion Post # 142. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana where there will be a joint Knights of Columbus memorial and prayer service at 6:30 PM Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Kentucky/Southern Indiana. Messages of condolence may be sent online at www.huberfuneralhome.net
