John Moore

Cannelton, Indiana J. Matthew Moore, 28, died Friday evening as a result of an automobile accident on Indiana 37 in northern Perry County. Matt was born on August 5, 1975, in Jasper, Indiana, son of John E. and Ann (Chappell) Moore survive him. He was a 1993 graduate of Tell City High School, 1997 graduate of University of Evansville and a 2000 graduate of Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. He married the former Lucy Rhodes May 20, 2000 at St. Michael catholic Church in Cannelton. Before returning home to Perry County, Matt worked for Bamberger, Forman, Oswald & Hahn in Evansville and Mount Vernon. He established his own law office in Cannelton in December, 2002. A former member of Sons of American Legion in Mount Vernon, he was a member of Tell City Kiwanis, Tell City Loyal Order of Moose #1424 and Tell City Jaycees. He also served on the board of directors for the Animal Shelter of Perry County and most recently a member of Cannelton Democrats Election Committee. Matt was starting his second season as junior high boy's basketball coach at Cannelton and enjoyed spending time with the youth in his community. A member of St. Michael Catholic Church, he served as a eucharistic minister, lector and was was recently elected to serve on the pastoral council. An avid sports fan, Matt held season tickets for the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed the Indiana Pacers and Indiana University basketball. Matt was especially fond of his dogs, Socrates, Josie and Sadie. Moore-Waller, Athens, GA A nephew for whom he was raising, Zach Criss, Cannelton, IN A grandmother - Margaret Chappell, Jasper, IN Funeral services will be 10:00 AM EST Monday November 10, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton with burial in New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday and from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. There will be a Loyal Order of the Moose memorial service at 7:45 PM on Sunday evening at the funeral home followed by a parish prayer service. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, OSB, will officiate.
