John Bowman

March 8, 1926 — June 6, 2013

Infantry Regiment, 78Infantry Division. John had worked at the Indiana Cotton Mill, was a part time police officer for the City of Cannelton and worked for over 32 years at Maxon Marine formerly in Tell City. A member of American Legion Post #213 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2939, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Bowman, Cannelton; daughters, Donna Palmertree , Valrico, Florida and Pam Newton, Tell City; sister, Geraldine Parsons, Tell City; six grandchildren, Dawn Snyder, Amy Lumpkins, Jayson Sandage, John Mark Newton, Brad Newton and Stephanie Newton; three great grandchildren, Pvt. Andrew Snyder, Kyle Snyder and Bryce Newton. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 10, 2013 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #213 and VFW Post #2939. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:00 until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #213 or VFW Post #2939.
