Tell City, IN Peter J. "Joe" Schaad, 73, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016. Joe was born in Derby, IN, February 7, 1943, son of the late Emory and Lessie Mae (Ramsey) Schaad. Also preceding him in death are his sisters, Melba Simpson, Delores Wilson and Iris Leimgruber; brothers, Delbert "D.E." and Jim Schaad; and a grandson, Austin Hensley. A graduate of Tell City High School, Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Branchville Correctional Facility as a transport officer. He had also worked for Whirlpool Corporation and most recently at Walmart. Joe enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family at The Freezer Cafe and The Overlook. He liked cutting firewood, riding motorcycles, shooting pool, being outdoors, fishing, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with his dog, B2. He is survived by his daughter; Carla Garcia (Alfredo), Beaver Dam, KY; sons, David Schaad, Jasper, IN, Jay Schaad (Charity), Mt. Pleasant, IN, and Robin Schaad (Felecia), Tell City, IN; a sister, Rose Leoni, Austin, TX; brothers, Rev. Charles Schaad, Boonville, IN and Johnny Schaad, Tell City, IN; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM CST Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery with military rites. Rev. Charles Schaad will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
