* The Family would appreciate masks being worn to visitation. Tell City, Indiana Joan L. (Sabelhaus) Conner, 90, passed away on November 17, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Tell City on October 20, 1931, the fourth of seven children to George J. "Cotton" and Vivian M. (Hagedorn) Sabelhaus. She attended St. Paul Elementary School and graduated from Tell City High School in 1949. Joan was united in marriage on February 3, 1951 to William E. "Bill" Conner at St. Paul Catholic Church, where they raised their eight children and remained active members their entire adult lives. She served as a lector, eucharistic minister, catechist for the children's religious education program, long time choir member and a funeral meal coordinator. After high school she worked in the office at Tell City Chair Co. until her marriage and family life began. Joan's primary loves were God, her family and her many lifelong friends. She especially enjoyed her women's and couple's bridge clubs, cooking and baking, picnics with her family and friends and hosting her entire extended family for holiday celebrations. Her children and grandchildren describe their mom and grandma as always having a beautiful, gentle and loving spirit who always cared for and gave to others without expecting anything in return. Joan demonstrated Christ's love for others by her daily example of quiet service and unconditional love, smiles, meals, hospitality and one on one time that made each person feel so incredibly loved. She was full of such grace and was a humble presence who left a legacy of loving God and others as her accomplished mission in life. Survivors include her children, Tim (Harriet) Conner, Christine (Keith) Kanneberg, Mary (Ron) Riley, Julie (Bob) Kohnert, David (Lisa) Conner, Theresa Conner (Jay Scott) and Stephen (Elizabeth) Conner; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Sabelhaus, Pat (Nettie) Sabelhaus and Steve Sabelhaus and 11 nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several loving caregivers over the past few years, especially Brenda Little and Amy Harding, who have spent the last year and a half showering her with God's love every day. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband of 70 years, Bill, last January; son, Gregory at birth; daughter, Susan (Conner) Vauthier and son in law, Vic Vauthier; son in law, Wm. Brian Allburn; brothers, Roger and Doug Sabelhaus; sister, Sr. Vivian Mary (Georgie) Sabelhaus and sisters in law, Sandy Sabelhaus and Lavonne Sabelhaus.
