Jimmy Bishop

June 22, 1941 — June 12, 2018

Jimmy Bishop, 76, passed away on June 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cloverport, Kentucky on June 22, 1941. Jimmy and Shirley Jean (Noble) were married on January 2, 1962 in Cloverport, Kentucky. He worked for many years at Can Clay in Cannelton and later at NSA in Hawesville. For at least 50 years, Jimmy hauled watermelon and cantaloupe from Posey County to sell from his truck in Tell City. He loved attending auctions and had an eye for bargains to buy, trade or sell. As the only boy in a family of girls, Jimmy was always close to his sisters and loved visiting with his Kentucky family. He loved to eat and share meals, to tell stories, to sit in his chair and watch passersby, and to listen to the happy noise of his family in their home. Jimmy had a smile and hello for everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Bishop of Tell City; his children Pam Bishop of Tell City, Jeff (Julie) Bishop of Cannelton, Mike (Tara) Bishop of Branchville and Natalie (Jeff) Hartness of Tell City; his nephews Jeremy (Lisa) Noble and Wesley Noble of Tell City; his grandchildren Elizabeth and Claire Bishop of Cannelton; Luke, Andy and Mia Bishop of Branchville; Keirian and Alyssa Hartness of Tell City; and his great-nephew and niece Jake and Kate Noble of Tell City. Preceding him in death were his parents Richard "Dick" and Martine (Embry) Bishop and sisters Bobbie Jarrett, Pauline Hartley, Sudie James, and Nellie Kline and a brother, George, in infancy; and his brother-in-law, Leonard Noble, whom he raised like a son. Funeral services will held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Animal Shelter.
