Jim Underhill

Tell City, Indiana -

James C. “Jim” Underhill, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the age of 93.

He was born in Doolittle Mills, Indiana, on November 10, 1930.

Jim was a retired US Air Force Major, Command Pilot, who received many awards and decorations while serving at a long list of locations throughout the world. He was also retired from General Tire and Rubber Company. Jim was a life member of the Daedalions, an association of military pilots, and was also a life member of VFW post 2939 in Tell City.

He is survived by sons, James E. Underhill and his wife Deborah of Culpeper VA; Craig S. Underhill and his wife Valerie of McLean VA and their children, James Underhill, of Manhattan, NY., Alicia Underhill and her husband Collin Waldoch, of Brooklyn NY and by his beloved companion, Fay King of Tell City. He is also survived by brother, Paul Underhill of Clarksville, Indiana, a sister Lucille Underhill Goldman, of New Albany, Indiana, and a sister Frances Underhill Belcher, of Danville, Indiana.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Susan (Mitchell) Underhill and his parents, Claude and Eva (Wright) Underhill.

Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
