Troy, Indiana James Fredrick "Jim" Heeke, 64, went to his heavenly home on March 18, 2021 at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on April 6, 1956, son of the late Fredrick J. and Anna M. (Braunecker) Heeke. Jim married his lifelong friend, Katie Epple, on June 4, 1977 at the Tell City Church of Christ. Together they built a beautiful life and family. Jim was a 1975 graduate of Perry Central High School. He obtained a welding technology degree from Oakland City College in 1976. He was a member of the Boilermakers Local 374 and had 31 years of service. Jim was a member of the Tell City Church of Christ, where he served the Lord faithfully. He was the president of the River Cities Coin Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, coin collecting, farming, and most of all spending time and traveling with his family. He and Katie experienced their trip of a lifetime to Alaska in 2019. Jim was a kind man, with a giving heart, who was loved by all who knew him. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Katie, of Troy; children Jamie Logel and her husband Chris, of Murfreesboro, TN, Logan Heeke and his wife Elizabeth, of Glasgow, Scotland U.K., and Laura Beth Philipps and husband Derrick of Troy; grandchildren Calib Logel and wife Rachel, Lleyton and Legend Logel, Garrett, Abigail and Samuel Heeke, Adeline and Ike Philipps; great granddaughter Evelyn Logel; siblings Alberta Hanners and Shirley Sullivan of Louisville, KY, Rosemary LaGrange and her husband Joe of St. Croix, Rita LaGrange and her husband Allen of Tell City, Patrick Heeke and his wife Jane, of Troy, Francis Heeke and his wife Martha, of Evanston, Daniel Heeke and his wife Sharon of Bristow and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Charles, Joseph and Paul Heeke and sister, Mary Ann Heeke, who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Tell City Church of Christ, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at church. Memorial contributions can be made to Tell City Church of Christ Mission Fund or St. Martin's Cloak Food Pantry. A reminder that a mask is to be worn while visiting the funeral home and social distancing is to be practiced.
