Tell City, Indiana - Jill M. (James) Johnson, 38, passed away on October 13, 2015, at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, on July 19, 1977, and graduated from Cannelton High School in 1996. She attended Vincennes University, Jasper Campus. Jill will be remembered for her positive attitude and outgoing personality. She was generous, caring and always placed the needs of others before her own. She loved being with friends and family, especially her beloved nephew, Camden. A homemaker, Jill enjoyed baking and sharing those treats with others. She was a member of American Legion Post #213 Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband of six years, Jason Johnson; parents, Norman and Jan James, Cannelton and Dave, Jr. and Cindy Thompson, Cannelton; brothers, Brandon James and his son, Camden, Evansville, David R. Thompson, Hawesville, Kentucky; sisters, Misty Jones (Marty), Tell City and Ericka Dowell (Scott), Hawesville, Kentucky; grandparents, Dorothy Pekinpaugh, Cannelton and Dave Thompson, Sr., Cannelton and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Cecil Alvey, Shirley "Pek" Pekinpaugh andThelma Thompson and great grandparents, Orville and Thelma Kieser. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital and Leukemia Society of America.
