Jerry L. Belcher, 70, passed away on October 9, 2024, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.


Jerry was born in Washington, Indiana on March 27, 1954, to Charles C. “Chick” and Bonnie (Wilson) Belcher.


On September 12, 1995, he was united in marriage to Sara Spencer. Together they shared nearly 30 years of adventures and memories.


Jerry graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and served over 25 years with the Indiana State Police, retiring as a detective.


He was always civic-minded and with his outgoing personality, he was well known to many. He was an avid supporter of the Perry County community and was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ where he was serving on the church council.


Jerry loved sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Fever, IU and the St. Louis Cardinals. His passion, after his retirement, was woodworking. He could always be found in his shop repairing and refinishing furniture.


Surviving is his wife, Sara Belcher; his children, Brad Belcher and Kaitlyn Cross (Justin); sister-in-law, Jo Kay Belcher; nephew, Mike Belcher; niece, Laura Belcher and his in-laws who thought of him as a brother, Cathy Hagedorn (Tommy), Jon Spencer (June), Carol Sabelhaus, Jane James, Paul “Digger” Spencer (Norma) and Joe Spencer and his beloved dog, Grace.


Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Tom Belcher.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Pastor Kyle Reaka will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday at Huber Funeral Home. On Saturday, visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at Evangelical United Church of Christ.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ or Indiana State Police Alliance.
