Magnet, Indiana - Jerome M. Knieriem, 65, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Oriole. His parents were the late Lafe and Vivian (Senn) Knieriem. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Irene Young and Esther Mueller and a brother Eugene Knieriem. Jerome was a 1965 graduate of Perry Central High School and was a United States Army veteran and served during the Vietnam Era. He married Sherry Flamion on August 8, 1970, at Branchville United Methodist Church. Jerome was a member of Alton American Legion. He was a mechanic and retired from Southwire, in Hawesville, Kentucky, after 30 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Knieriem; sons, Ryan Knieriem (Heather) of Magnet, Aaron Knieriem (Kendra) of Crothersville and Kyle Knieriem (Valerie) of Tell City; brothers, Marcus Knieriem, Louisville, Kentucky, Russell Knieriem, Oriole, Indiana, and Donald Leonard Knieriem, Louisville, Kentucky and eight grandchildren, Lain, Bryce, Trace, Lauren, Andrew, Brooke, Luke and Jack Knieriem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27th, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in German Ridge Cemetery near Oriole where there will be military graveside rites. There will be visitation from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Rev. John Pearce will officiate. Memorial contributons may be made to Branchville United Methodist Church or German Ridge Cemetery (Oriole).
