Cannelton, Indiana - Emogene G. "Jean" Faulkenburg, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was born near Ranger on March 6, 1925. Her parents were Otis and Ada (Lawalin) Malone. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Tom and Jim Malone. After graduating from Oil Township High School in 1944, Jean then started a 65 year career as a medical assistant for Dr. David Dukes, Dr. Hargis Bush and Dr. Gene Ress. She married Harold J. Faulkenburg on January 13, 1951, in Tell City. They were married for 54 years before "Jasper" passed away on December 5, 2005. They were faithful members of First United Methodist Church in Cannelton. Jean enjoyed going to auctions, reading and spending time with her cat, Magic. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Murphy, Plainfield, grandson, Sean Murphy, West Lafayette; two sisters, Leola Krieg, Huntingburg, and Virginia Evans, Tell City; brother, Alvin Malone, Tell City, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until service time Wednesday. Paul Alvey will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Cannelton or Greyhound Pets of American, Indianapolis Chapter.
