James Winchell

Rome, Indiana James H. "Jim" Winchell, 74, passed away on March 15, 2023. He was born in Tell City on October 18, 1948 and a graduate of Cannelton High School. Jim was a United States Army Veteran. He was united in marriage to Wanda (Seifert) Whitehead in 1977. He retired from General Electric after 35 years. He loved deer hunting and being outdoors. Surviving is his wife, Wanda Winchell, Rome; children, Rita Ramsey (Lewis), Derby and Keith B. Whitehead (Dorothy), Cannelton; grandchildren, James Ramsey (Tonya), Shane Ramsey (Leiann), Jamie Zellers (Nick), Destiny Webb (Bruce) and Brandon Whitehead; great grandchild, Savannah Kunkle; sister, Sally Ress, Tell City and nephews, Jeff Minto (Linda), Tracy Minto (Jane) and Todd Minto (Holly). Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold Winchell and Mildred "Millie" (Thomas) Winchell Langdon and a granddaughter, Tosha Whitehead. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM CDT on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Ann Skiba will officiate. Burial will follow in Rowe Cemetery in Rome. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome United Methodist Church or Rome Cemetery Association.
