James Rhodes

Leopold, Indiana - James J. "Jim" Rhodes, 83, passed away at 7:49 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Derby on March 24, 1933, son of the late Walter and Clarice (Sweat) Rhodes. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 58 years, Rosella (Bouillon) Rhodes; grandson, Jerry Allen Amos, and great granddaughter, Allison Brook Hexamer. Jim worked as a route salesman for Krodel Wholesale, for over forty five years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1172, Loyal Order of Moose #1424, Leopold Conservation Club and Royal Neighbors of America. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, fishing, hunting, gardening, planting his flower beds, bird watching and tending to his cats. Surviving are his children, Kathy Schmidt (Steve), Tell City, Lynda R. Hess (Don), Derby, Kimberly Hall (Denny), Tell City and James Mark Rhodes (Sherry), Tell City; ten grandchildren, Lisa Martinez, Shannon Amos, Shawnna Ritchie, Markie Rhodes, Kristel Kratzer, Jennifer Patrick, Jason Hess, Denny Hall, Jr., Derek Hall and Lacey Kilbarger; fifteen great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00-10:30 AM Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church or Perry County Animal Shelter.
