Tell City, Indiana - Jack Garvin, 82, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born in Clinton, Illinois on September 26, 1931, son of the late William and Carlye (Long) Garvin. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Bonnie Holmes, four brothers and four sisters. He was a life member of West Allis Masonic Lodge in Wisconsin, past Grand Royal Patron of Amaranth of Arkansas, past Worthy Patron of OES, past WOS of White Shrine of Jerusalem, member of Tripli Shrine and Scottish Rite Valley, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, American Legion Post #213 in Tell City and Central Baptist Church in Hawesville, Kentucky. He retired from the U.S. Navy and later worked at Square-D Corporation, in Wisconsin, where he was a systems analyst. He is survived by his wife Gladys (Henning) Garvin, Tell City; six daughters, Linda Diane Abel (Don), Mooresville, IN, Susan Osterloth, Springfield, IL, Linda Starkoski (Jeff Hower), Catawissa, PA, Teressa Hutnick (Jim), Kulpmont, PA, Janie Ball, Tell City and Debra Ball Mills, Indianapolis; four sons, Tom Garvin (Denise) Madison WI, Jeff Ball (Michelle) Stone Mountain, GA, Noah Ball (Sherry), Richland, IN, and Tony Ball (Jan), Hiram, GA; brother, Bob Garvin (Alice), Winter Park, FL; three very special children, Adam Gehlhausen, Alexandria Etienne and Rhett Smith; twenty-six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; and his little buddy Hoover. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Central Baptist Church in Hawesville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, October 10, 2013, in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Living Bread Food Pantry at Tell Street Baptist Church, Tell City, or Central Baptist Church Food Pantry, Hawesville, Kentucky.
