Etienne, 91, passed away on June 1, 2016, at Golden Living-Lincoln Hills. He was born in Mount Pleasant on January 12, 1925. His parents were the late Michael A. and Ida E. (Goffinet) Etienne. Also preceding him in death was his son, Michael Etienne; brothers, Justus Etienne and Casper "John" Etienne; half sister, Irene Throop and half brothers, James Etienne and Linus Etienne. Ivo graduated from Oil Township High School in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was married to the former Mary Peter on August 29, 1953, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Ivo retired in 1986 from Maxon Marine where he had been employed for over thirty-seven years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Perry County Coon Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. Ivo was well known for his bountiful garden, always sharing it with family and friends. His family co-hosted a turtle soup cookout for family and friends for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Etienne; children, Mary Ann Bernard, her husband John, and their children, Philip Bernard, Lenore Engler, Edward Bernard and Marysa Bernard; Mark "Bomber" Etienne (Annettie Ransom and her daughter, Jaime Smith) Tom Etienne, and John Etienne, his wife, Ruthie and their children, Nicholas Etienne and Mackenzie Etienne; Tracy Schroeder, her husband, Duane their children, Isaac Schroeder and Olivia Tempel; daughter-in-law, Helen Etienne Schipp, her husband, Dennis and her children, Amanda Cavins, Abbie Mendenhall, Benjamin Etienne and Lydia Etienne; sisters, Marcella Ward and Elsie Flamion and a sister in law, Glenda Etienne. There are ten great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or Alzheimer's Association.
