Tell City, Indiana –
Hubert P. Hagedorn, 101, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024.
He was born in Perry County, son of William T. and Anna M. (Bockhold) Hagedorn. Hubert was a United States Army veteran, serving his country during World War II. He married Eulalae Walters on June 10, 1947, at St. Mark Catholic Church where they were still active members. He was a member of American Legion Post #213, Knights of Columbus Chapter #1172 and Boilermaker Union Local #374. Hubert was a charter and founding member of Anderson Township Fire Department and had served on Perry County Soil and Conservation Advisory Board.
He was a lifelong Perry County farmer and had driven a school bus for Anderson Township Schools. In 1989, Hubert retired from Maxon Marine as a welder. He was employed there for over 30 years. Hubert then worked for the Perry County Highway Department.
He was dedicated to his community and church always volunteering in some capacity whether it be serving soup for the Knights of Columbus or his many years of maintaining maps and marking graves for St. Mark Cemetery. Hubert had been a Perry County Democrat Committeeman for the Hagedorn Precinct and had served four terms as a Perry County Commissioner. He enjoyed working, listening to country music…..and then….working some more.
He is survived by his wife, Eulalae Hagedorn; children, Ed Hagedorn (Brenda), Rosetta Westmoreland (Jim), Don Hagedorn (Phyllis), Linus Hagedorn (Shirley), Becky Hubert (Paul), Rita Etienne and Marolyn Flamion (Dean); grandchildren, Leslie Miles (John), Jeff Westmoreland, Sarah Westmoreland, Emily Vaovasa (Bill), Evan Hagedorn (Caroline), Travis Hagedorn, (Kylie), Courtney Drew (Rusty), Eric Hubert (Jennie), Ryan Hubert (Kan Kan), Julie Guillaume (Jared), Natalie Wais (Brian), Matthew Etienne (Amanda), Kirstie Bowles (Jason Starke), Brandon Flamion (Katharine King) and Hunter Flamion; 22 great grandchildren, with another great grandson due in July, and a sister-in-law, Theresa Arnold.
Hubert was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Alvin, Cletus, Raphael and Nick Hagedorn, Rose Harpenau, Agatha Harpenau, Mary Lautner, Margaret Deom and Charles William Hagedorn, in infancy and a son-in-law, Monkey Etienne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. Mark Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery where there will be military rites. Rev. Kolbe Wolniakowski will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and on Monday from 8:00 AM until service time at St. Mark Church. There will be a Knights of Columbus service at 6:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to St. Mark Catholic Church or “Courtney Hagedorn-Drew Benefit”. This fund will assist with Hubert’s granddaughter’s upcoming cancer treatments.
