Tell City, Indiana Howard Newman Hope, 80, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011, at Emeritus at Ocala East, in Ocala, Florida. He was born June 18, 1931, in Browder, Kentucky, but lived many years in Tell City. Howard served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. While in high school, he was an Honorable Mention All-State Basketball Player in 1950 for Drakesboro High School in Drakesboro, Kentucky. For several years, Howard was employed at Mead Johnson in Evansville before joining Alcoa Aluminum's Warrick Operation where he remained until his retirement in 1985. He then moved to Leesburg, Florida and later to Ocala, Florida. He is survived by his son David Hope (Donna) of Ocala, Florida; four grandsons, Ty Guillaume of Leopold, Jared Guillaume of Evansville, Matthew Hope and Travis Hope both of Orlando, Florida; a brother, H.L. Hope of Evansville; a sister, Elda Ree Casey of Henderson, Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Hope Allen, brother, Otto F. Hope Jr. and infant sister, Betty Lou Hope. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM (noon) until service time on Saturday. A private interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Florida. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
