Cannelton, Indiana - Hilda Jean Polster, 76, passed away at 4:40 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Kentucky. She was born in Cannelton, Indiana, on November 30, 1930. Her parents were the late Noble and Bertha (Hawhee) Van Conia. Also preceding her in death was a son, Alan Robert Polster, in infancy. Hilda Jean married Clyde Polster on November 28, 1963, at the First United Methodist Church Parsonage in Cannelton. A 1948 graduate of Cannelton High School, she had owned her own beauty shop, Jean's Beauty Shop, formerly in the old Irvin Theater in Cannelton and later out of her home. She also had worked as a retail clerk at Vincent's Market, formerly in Cannelton and Werner's Market, formerly in Tell City and at Dairy Queen. Hilda Jean was active for many years in the Republican Party for the City of Cannelton and had served as committee chairperson. She and several ladies at her church have been seen selling lunch at local auctions to raise money for projects at their church. Hilda Jean enjoyed baking and going to yard sales. Surviving: Husband of 43 years, Clyde Polster Son - Scott Polster, Cannelton, Indiana Brother - Robert Van Conia, Columbia, Illinois Grandson - Jonathan A niece and a nephew Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 3, 2007, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church in Cannelton. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate.
