Tell City, Indiana Herman W. Theis, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills. He was born in Perry County June 10, 1930 son of the late Ferdinand and Bertha (George) Theis. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Charles Theis and sisters, Lucille Dauby, Mabel Dauby, Georgia Rust and Margaret Bolin. A US Navy veteran, Herman served two tours during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Brinksneader on June 23, 1962 at St. Pius Catholic Church. Herman was a self-employed farmer and was owner and operator of Theis Sawmill. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, VFW Post #2939, enjoyed shooting matches, gardening, and wood and metal working. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Theis; daughter, Theresa "Terri" Shane (Rick), Kalamazoo, Michigan; sons, Mike Theis (Terri), Tell City, Mark Theis, Troy, Dan Theis, Tell City, and Jason Theis, Henryville; grandchildren, Jessica, Julia, Jillian, Jonathan, Jarrett, and Jacob Theis and Emily and Lauren Shane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2012 at St. Pius Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #2939. Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorials contributions may be made to St. Pius Catholic church or St. Mary's Cemetery.
